Today we launched our website.
Having worked in bereavement support for children and young people for over ten years, I have grown quite a passion for helping families in what is often a life changing event. In recent years I have noticed there is no open access service in East Suffolkfor families who have been bereaved of a loved one. Most services focus on loss due to long term illness or only cover a limited geographical area, this can often exclude families from gaining the valuable support and guidance they may need to navigate life without the person who died.
I created Black Dog in response to this need, hoping that the content on our website and the services we provide will help as many people as possible. Unfortunately we were unable to make our counselling service free at the moment as we are just starting up and have costs to cover. We have tried to keep our fees low and they are negotiable, hopefully in time we can offer free support to those who need it.
I am proud of what we have achieved before our website was created and hope that having a space online can reach more families.
Take care
Rob
